There was a recent discussion over on child_lit about the decline in literary reading by kids. Some decried the internet as the culprit, even for adults. Roger Sutton, editor of The Horn Book Magazine mentioned his 2004 article, which referenced this NEA article. Granted, that was a few years ago. This bookseller recently burned his books in protest of such a decline. Apparently Ray Bradbury would have agreed with such tactics.
